Online Learning Platform Design: Creating a Vibrant Digital Home for DigiTribe

DigiTribe is an online platform supporting children aged 7-25 with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). Operating as a welcoming, child-centred community, they offer a fresh alternative to traditional classes and social clubs through gaming socials, interest-led learning, and creative courses. As an accredited AQA Unit Awards Centre and Arts Awards Centre, DigiTribe helps young people build confidence, make friends, and develop portfolios of learning in a neuro-affirming environment.

DigiTribe approached us needing a website that would speak to two distinct audiences: children seeking engaging online activities and parents searching for suitable educational alternatives to mainstream schooling. The challenge was to create an online learning platform where users could easily discover and navigate the various courses and clubs on offer, whilst maintaining the strong, playful brand identity we’d already established for them. The site needed to be as welcoming and accessible as the DigiTribe community itself.

Our Approach to Online Learning Platform Design

We began this online learning platform design by carefully mapping out user priorities and journeys. Understanding that parents needed quick access to crucial information about courses, costs, and safeguarding, whilst children would be drawn to visual elements and gaming content, we created a clear navigation structure that served both audiences. This user-first approach ensured that the online learning platform would be intuitive from the moment visitors landed on the homepage.

The visual identity was central to our online learning platform design strategy. We incorporated animated GIFs showcasing the three core values: Learn, Create, and Inspire, throughout the site, bringing movement and energy to every section. Custom animations guided users through the experience, whilst carefully selected imagery reinforced the brand’s playful, inclusive character. Video content was strategically placed to demonstrate the community in action, helping parents visualise their children thriving in DigiTribe’s programmes.

On the technical side, our online learning platform design included building a robust backend system integrated with third-party plugins to manage course bookings and memberships seamlessly. We ensured the site was responsive across all devices, recognising that many users would access it via tablets or mobile phones. The result is a visually stunning platform where well-organised information sits comfortably alongside bold brand expression, making it effortless for families to find exactly what they need.
