CoSafe Consultancy: How Consultancy Branding Specialists Transformed Values into a Complete Visual Identity
Consultancy branding specialists understand that launching a new professional services business requires more than just expertise – it demands a complete visual identity that builds trust and credibility from day one. When CoSafe Consultancy approached us, they exemplified this challenge perfectly: a wealth of experience and clear values, but no brand foundation to establish their professional presence.
CoSafe Consultancy came to us as a newly formed personal development and risk management consultancy. Founded by Richard Fisher, a former police officer with over 30 years of experience across public and private sector partnerships, CoSafe specialises in coaching & mentoring, safeguarding consultancy & reviews, and risk management & events safety.
Richard’s extensive background includes overseeing policing service delivery to communities in large geographic boroughs including Dudley and Wolverhampton, managing departments with 500-1000 employees, overseeing multi-million pound budgets, and navigating significant organisational changes including austerity measures and the Covid pandemic. He served as a misconduct and grievance panel chair, covert authorising officer, and was trained in performance and intelligence analysis. Richard also chaired strategic boards including safeguarding, community safety and prevent initiatives.
His operational expertise extends to over 20 years of delivering critical public order and public safety events including the Olympic Torch Relay, Commonwealth Games, the Pope’s visit, large-scale protests, celebrations, major football matches and music events. He holds JESIP and POPS Silver qualifications, demonstrating his expertise in multi-agency emergency response.
With this wealth of experience, Richard was ready to launch his own consultancy, offering comprehensive risk management and safeguarding services. However, he needed the foundational brand identity and digital platform to establish his professional presence in the competitive consultancy marketplace.
The Challenge:
When Richard approached us through a referral from existing clients who knew him through his police and consultation work, CoSafe Consultancy existed only as a name and a set of core values. They had developed their PIPES framework (Protection, Integrity, Partnerships, Expertise & Support) but lacked any visual identity or digital presence.
The challenge was multifaceted: Richard needed a complete brand foundation that would give him a platform to launch from. Without a logo, website, or any marketing materials, potential clients had no way to discover more about CoSafe’s services or understand the professional calibre of expertise Richard could offer.
The consultancy needed to differentiate itself in a crowded marketplace where many security and risk management companies rely on generic imagery and messaging. Richard’s unique background bridging public and private sectors, combined with his operational experience in high-profile events, required a brand that could communicate both authority and approachability.
The target audience presented another challenge: public sector organisations, private businesses, event organisers, and venues all have different expectations and communication preferences. The brand needed to work equally well when presenting to a local authority safeguarding board as it would when pitching to a private event management company.
Operating in the competitive consultancy space, Richard needed experienced consultancy branding specialists who could create a brand that would stand out from typical security and risk management companies whilst building trust with his diverse target audience.
Our Approach:
We began with an in-depth ideation session to understand Richard’s vision for the brand. During our face-to-face consultation, Richard shared his concept of the “evidential learning cycle” – a continuous improvement process that never truly closes but spirals upward, representing ongoing development and growth. This became a central inspiration for the visual identity.
Richard had initially explored AI-generated logo concepts but found them too clichéd and overly focused on police imagery, which would limit the consultancy’s broader appeal. He wanted something that acknowledged his trusted background whilst clearly positioning CoSafe as a forward-thinking, comprehensive consultancy service.
The collaborative process was essential. Through multiple face-to-face meetings, we explored concepts of upward trajectory, pathways, progress with direction, and circular processes. Richard’s insight about the evidential learning cycle – a spiral that represents continuous improvement without ever truly closing – provided the perfect metaphor for both his consultancy approach and the visual identity.
Our design approach focused on creating a brand that was corporate yet approachable, professional enough for strategic partnerships whilst remaining accessible to all stakeholders. The design needed to be rooted in strong values, incorporating the PIPES framework meaningfully rather than superficially. We wanted the brand to be future-focused, representing progress, development, and upward trajectory whilst being distinctive and avoiding clichéd security industry imagery whilst maintaining trustworthiness.
For the colour palette, we worked with Richard’s preference for navy, silver, white, and green – colours that maintained some connection to his trusted police background whilst expanding beyond it to represent his broader consultancy services.
The website design prioritised clean, easy access to information with a professional appearance that would establish credibility with decision-makers across public and private sectors.

Client testimonial:
“Dan, Rebecca and Emily at Eighty3 Design are amazing. I’m so pleased with the website they have built for me. It encapsulates all the values and tone I described to them. They are so helpful and nothing is too much for them to deliver the best service and help. Hopefully the start of a long-term working relationship.”

Founder
CoSafe Consultancy
This project reinforced a fundamental principle we see time and again as consultancy branding specialists: having strong values is really important if you want your brand to be more than just a pretty picture. Richard came to us with a clear understanding of his PIPES framework and how he wanted to serve his clients. This foundation made the design process focused and meaningful.
Going through the process of designing logos and websites is pointless if you haven’t got a plan. Richard’s clarity about his target audience, his unique value proposition, and his long-term vision meant every design decision could be evaluated against real business objectives rather than personal preferences.
The collaborative, face-to-face approach proved invaluable. Richard’s feedback was constructive and insightful, helping us refine concepts that truly represented his vision for the business. This level of engagement is what separates successful branding projects from superficial design exercises.
